In a nutshell
Binary Boy (aka Jakob Seeber) is a drummer and House/Breakbeat producer based in Berlin. Performing live as a duo with pianist Igor Zawatcki, he plays exclusively original compositions using drums, synthesizers, and bass. His sound is heavily influenced by House producers such as Jovonn, Mall Grab, and DJ Boring, while the strong impact of UK Garage and Drum & Bass is also unmistakable.
The translation of music originally produced entirely on a computer into a live setup using real instruments draws inspiration from bands like KUF, Comfort Rauschen, and Lander & Aadrian. Jakob raps while drumming, creating funky House and Breakbeat grooves using a hybrid setup of sample pads and an acoustic drum kit.
Igor alternates between funky basslines and explosive synthesizer chords.
Crunchy vocal samples, jazzy chord rhythms, tasty basslines, and energetic buildups lay the foundation for a live show that blends meticulously rehearsed sections with improvisation—captivating both dance music enthusiasts and the curious alike.
